EXQUISITE Green & Pink Beaded Silk 1920's Evening Gown

Product Description

A positively EXQUISITE authentic 1920's evening gown in a lovely dusky green shade with metallic embroidery and gorgeous/ unusual beaded magenta trees. HAND stitched and beaded... can you imagine the sheer amount of work and time that went into this piece! Sleeveless tank style gown with attached thin strapped sheer underdress (I think you'll probably still need a slip underneath... not included). At some point the underdress was hemmed to knee length so that when the outer dress fluttered open during movement more leg would show (the hem can be let down to the original full length if you prefer). Two long bands on the front bodice. These are hand stitched in place above the dropped waist and it is possible they were originally meant to flutter free. Sheer dropped waist band with "bow" at left side. Snap closures on both the outer dress and the attached underdress. Just a stunning piece and a FANTASTIC example of 1920's clothing.

Size: Little flex but best around 35" bust, 35" waist (not meant ot be fitted), MAX 43" hips. Approximately 53 1/2" from shoulder to rear hem (a graduated hem has been added... deepest portion is 3" at the rear and can be let back down).

Condition: In good condition. Keep in mind when reading this that the gown is almost 90 years old and is structurally sound (unlike so many beaded 1920's silks which have shattered over the years). Based on so many other 20's gowns we've seen over the years the condition really is quite good. The dress has a little bit of a musty odor. Little yellow to rear neckline. The metallic embroidery has oxidized (uniformly so it isn't an issue). There is some discoloration at the underarms. A couple of tiny spots on the two bodice bands. Three pin holes on the rear neckline. Large liquid type spot on rear right side of bodice (see photo). Similar liquid/water type spot on sash (see photo). Pin hole in sash. Tiny bit of missing embroidery at the shoulder (about 1/2" on each side). A few scattered small spots. We have not had this gown cleaned as we no longer have anyone we trust in our area with pieces of this caliber.
