Gorgeous Embroidered Marquisette 1950's Cocktail Dress w/ Detached Sleeves

Product Description

A gorgeous early 1950's cocktail dress in navy marquisette with cream embroidery. Fitted, strapless bodice. The sleeves are connected by short marquisette covered elastic bands which snap into the bodice (although the previous owner actually stitched them in over the snaps for added security, these stitches can be removed in a second if you wish to utilize the snaps). Also, the previous owner added a seam to the sleeves to narrow each of them by about 2" (she must have had slim arms)... this seam can be removed/adjusted easily to fit a variety of arms. Dress has a lovely, full skirt (shown here with a crinoline... not included). Lined (though sleeves are sheer). Side metal zipper. Bodice has two soft bones in the front but is otherwise not boned.

Size: 32 1/2" bust, 23" waist, free hips. Approximately 41 1/2" from underarm to hem.

Condition: In good condition. Although I do not think the embroidery was ever a bright white I still think it is darker than the original color (it is uniform, though). A little color variation to the lining. Although the busy pattern masks it well, there are also some scattered embroidery threads that have some orangey discoloration. A couple of incredibly minute pulls to the marquisette on the ruffle under the arm.
