Hunter Taffeta & Ecru Lace 1950's Cocktail Dress

Product Description

A gorgeous 1950's cocktail dress. It does have some flaws (see below) but I just couldn't leave it behind when I saw it. Rich hunter green taffeta contrasted with ecru lace. Pleated, heart shaped bodice with thin straps. Dress has a full skirt (shown here with a crinoline... not included). Side nylon replacement zipper. Lined. Label reads, "Branel Model."

Size: 36" bust, 28" waist, free hips. Approximately 44" from shoulder to hem.

Condition: In good, wearable condition. As stunning as this dress is, it is not without flaws. Had it been in better shape it would have been a bit pricier, so here's a chance to own a really unique piece if you don't mind a few things... the taffeta has some very definite color variation (see photo of side of dress). There are a few small breaks in the lace. As seen in the photos, there are some visible orangey spots on the lace (my guess is that these are a sugar type spots and probably will NOT clean out... you could hem the dress 6-8" to remove the two large ones on the bottom of the skirt but there are also a couple of smaller ones below the waist... see photo with tag). There is a tulle liner in between the lace skirt and the acetate liner and it is a bit ratty (if you trim the bottom edge no one will be able to see it). Someone hand tacked the straps and it is a bit sloppy. All in all this is still a gorgeous piece and in a dim lighting situation I think you can pull it off just fine.
