AN absolutely EXQUISITE 1920's evening dress in sepia silk with SUPERB beading (two types of glass seed beads...an amber and a frosted gray-plum along with amber disc beads) and a gold lame waist. Classically shaped sleeveless dress. Closureless.
Size: 40" bust, 40" waist (not meant to be fitted), MAX 46" hips. Approximately 49" from shoulder to hem.
Condition: In good condition. Unlike many of these 20's dresses I would really call this one strong enough to wear... the silk still feels nice and supple. The hem has been altered (looks like it was cut and then hemmed very close to the edge (not a flaw, I suppose, but there is no room to let it down). Faint underarm marking. Some scattered small water type spots... a few are slightly visible at the neckline and chest but really aren't too bad. There is some smudging on the rear neckline. One pin hole on the rear neckline (someone had the audacity not to tag this through the seam... sigh). A dime sized grey spot on the right side of the bodice above the waist. Some missing beads. A tiny hole at each underarm (barely visible). There is residue from what looks like a piece of tape at the left hem edge. Overall, though, this is a stunning 20's example and has survived far better than many similar pieces.
