 A glorious gown! A true screen siren gown in taupe crepe. HUGE draped satin collar with rhinestone clip and dramatic dress length scarf draped over the left shoulder. Satin waist inset with pleated drape on the right side of the skirt. Actually the dress is really constructed entirely in taupe crepe backed satin. The satin is turned inside (so that the satin glides luxuriously against the body) on the areas that appear to be crepe. Side zipper. Label reads, "Marvian Original, California." The previous owner had the dress taken in a bit and at the same time had the zipper replaced with a longer nylon one for ease of dressing. Unfortunately, the previous owner also took the dress to be dry cleaned and used a less than knowledgeable cleaner. The cleaner left some scuffs on the satin and left a quarter sized solvent mark on the drape. Also, the dress was apparently covered in dark water stains prior to the cleaning. The dry cleaning lightened these considerably, but you can still see some of them. I don't think that the dress was properly treated at the cleaners, however I cannot guarantee that another cleaning will make the dress any better. |
