N/OS Shimmering Plum Taffeta & Velvet Cocktail Dress Item v4251 ... Price: $188 SOLD A BEAUTIFUL early 1950's cocktail dress in plush plum velvet and shimmering plum taffeta. Short sleeved bodice of "crush resistant coronation velvet." Wonderfully pleated waistband. Dress has a full, twirling skirt lined in acetate (the acetate skirt lining has a tulle hem). The dress is shown here with an additional crinoline... not included). Side metal zipper. Matching self belt. This dress has never been worn and still has it's original hang tags intact (one of which explains the wonders of the half sized dress) as well as a clipped tag on the sleeve. Size (need help with your measurements? click here): 39" bust, 32" waist (one of the hang tags actually says that this dress is suited for someone with a 33" waist, but I'm quite skeptical about this), full hips. Approximately 41 1/2" from shoulder to hem. This is a half sized dress and is proportioned for a slightly shorter woman (shorter sleeves, etc...) Condition: In very good condition. There are a few dots of wear to the velvet pile (probably just stored up against something... not a big deal, though). There are two small dust spots on the skirt.
