Item v5564 ... Price: $190 SOLD An incredible 1940's evening gown in an iridescent pink, dark plum and dark mauve striped taffeta. Fitted bodice with squared neckline. Gown has a FANTASTIC, full skirt with gathered ballooned hips/bustle. Black velvet bows below the hips (these are pinned in place and can be removed if you prefer). Side metal zipper. Size: (need help with your measurements? click here) 32" bust, 23" waist, free hips. Approximately 61 1/2" from shoulder to hem. Condition: In good, wearable condition. Something about the texture and vibrancy of this gown leads me to believe that someone inexperienced hand washed it somewhere along the way (sigh...) instead of having it dry cleaned. I suppose it's not such a big deal, but having handled thousands of gowns over the years it irks me. The dress has been let out slightly (a little ghost stitching along the side seams) and a 1" insert was made to lengthen the waist (pretty sure this is not original to the construction of the gown, but I could be wrong). Scattered pin holes on the bodice/straps and a couple on the skirt. The pea sized spots on the rear of the skirt. On the the front of the bodice (near the top edge close to the right strap) there is a visible stress to the fabric (a little less than pea sized). Please see the detail photo of this area. Just above this there is a small pick to the edge of the taffeta (also visible in the detail photo). Not without flaws but still beautiful!
