Item v6793 ... Price: $239 SOLD
A FABULOUS 1950's prom dress in iridescentmint taffeta and tulle. Cuffed, strapless bodice with pleated tulle bust overlay and pointed waist. Bow with sash at rear neckline. Multi layered tulle skirt with pellon backed taffeta panel (shown here with a crinoline... not included). Rear metal zipper. Bodice is lined in marquisette and boned. "Will Steinman," label.
Size: (need help with your measurements? click here)
33 1/2" bust, 26" waist, free hips. Approximately 41" from shoulder to hem.
Condition: In good condition. A couple of loose stitches in the gathers of the tulle where it attaches to the taffeta (does not feel like it will pull out or anything, though). The dress has been cleaned but there is one faint yellowy diagonal line on the skirt taffeta. Also, some residue from the pellon backing of the taffeta got onto the tulle on the left side of the skirt. There is an UGLY alteration to the zipper area (a whole panel of matching taffeta was crudely added), but FORTUNATELY it is covered by the bow/sash. A couple of popped stitches at the peak of the waist. The tulle under the bust is stitched in place but could use a couple of tacks to make it sit right consistently. A couple of pin holes in the bodice cuff. When the alteration was made the entire inside of the skirt was readjusted and a portion of the tulle underlayer hangs down in the rear (see photo).
